OBITUARY
Susan Francis Stone Collins, age 74, of Monroe passed away on July 18, 2025. She was born on July 28, 1950 in Walton County, Georgia to the late William Perry Stone and the late Agnes Verner Stone.
Susan grew up in Gratis, where her family ran the first automated dairy farm in Walton County. She attended Monroe High School and proudly represented the Monroe Girls Corps in the Macy's Day Parade. Susan graduated from Georgia Southern with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration and worked as a state bank examiner for several years. It was during that time when she met her husband, Sam, who persuaded her to move to Maryland where they started their beautiful family and resided for more than 40 years. In 2020, Sam and Susan returned to their roots and moved back to the original house that Susan grew up in. Susan was sharp-witted, loved gardening, was a genius at any puzzles or crosswords she ever encountered, and most importantly loved and was loved by her family dearly. Her spirit and memory will live on in her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband: the late Samuel Robert Collins and brothers: the late William Perry Stone, Jr. and the late John Stone. Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law: Bob Collins, John and Bria Collins, Matthew and Alesha Collins, Christopher Collins and Emmalee Raiford; grandchildren: Sara Ashley, David, Hunter, Hallie, Quinn, Bobby, Elizabeth, Katie.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm on Friday, July 25, 2025 at Meadows Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 pm on Friday at the Chapel of Meadows Funeral Home with the Reverend Mike Peavy officiating. Interment will be at Center Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
