OBITUARY

George William Sloan, age 76, of Monroe passed away on October 11, 2025. He was born on August 25, 1949 to the late William C. Sloan and the late Mary Alice Jones. He was predeceased by his wife: the late Peggy Lee Peters; sister-in-law: the late Mary Jean Sloan and brother-in-law: the late Dennis Peters. 

Surviving are brother: John Sloan; brother-in-law: Ray Peters (LaRaye); niece: Patti Sloan and nephews: Tom Sloan, Chris Peters, Alex Peters, David Peters and Cody Peters. 

George graduated from Monroe High School, attended Athens Tech and served in the Army National Guard. 

George's legacy is one of love, kindness and unwavering dedication to his wife, family and friends. George enjoyed RV camping and working on old trucks and tractors. 

His professional career started at Monroe Radio and TV Service and then Atlanta Gas Light Company, where he retired. George's humor, kindness and generosity will surely be remembered by all who knew him. 

Visitation will be held from 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm on Saturday, November 15th at Meadows Funeral Home. A celebration of life will follow at the Chapel of Meadows Funeral.
