OBITUARY

Betty Jean Carter Henderson, age 86 of Oxford, passed away on January 3, 2026. She was born in Walton County on February 28, 1939 to the late James Alex Carter and the late Minnie Ruth Carter. She was preceded in death by her son, the late Victor Eugene Henderson; and her daughter, the late Trisha (Bebe) Henderson Thompson. 

Surviving are her husband, Gene Henderson; daughter, Bobbie Malcom; son, Chad Henderson; sister, Polly Stewart; 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. 

Betty was a loving wife to Gene for 65 years and a wonderful mother to her 4 children. She was known for her sewing ability, and she was an avid quilter. Her family estimates that she made over one thousand quilts in her lifetime, generously giving away the majority to family, friends, and charity. 

There will be a visitation on Wednesday January 7th at Meadows Funeral Home from 12:30 PM until 2:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday January 7th at 2:00 PM at the Chapel of Meadows Funeral Home with Chad Henderson officiating. Interment will follow at Covington City Cemetery.
