OBITUARY

Kathy Haury, age 76 of Monroe, passed away on January 3, 2026.  Mrs. Haury was born in Gadsden, Alabama on December 25, 1949 to the late Lonnie Smith and the late Margaret Nell (Cochran) Smith.  She was preceded in death by her sister, Joyce Wright; brother, William Smith.

Surviving members of Kathy’s family are her husband of 46 years, Chuck Haury; daughter, Kimberly Highsmith (Scott); son, Clinton Lee (Regina); brothers, Gary Smith, Lonnie Smith; grandchildren, Alexzandra King (Andy), Ashley Greenway (Trey), Shelby Brewer (Jason), Cody Lee, Corey Highsmith; great grandchildren, Miley King, Stella King, Parker Lee, Garrett Brewer, Norrah Brewer, Tucker Kearns, Wes Greenway.

Kathy is beautiful inside and out.  She embodied love.  Love is patient, love is kind.  It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.  It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.  Love does not delight in evil, but rejoices with the truth.  It always protects, always trust, always hopes, always perseveres.  (1 Corinthians 13: 4-7) To know her is to love her.

According to Chuck, Kathy’s husband, “I don't know how many times I said to Kathy. I can't wait until we get to Heaven to see the person I know here on earth. A person that has done the Lord’s commandments. A peaceful loving person to All and Never a Harsh Word did I ever hear Kathy speak. I'll Love You Forever and Always Your Husband. Chuck.   PS, THANK YOU KATHY MY LOVE!”

There will be a visitation on Wednesday January 7, 2026 at Meadows Funeral Home from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM.  Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2026 at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Meadows Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Hall officiating.  The interment will follow at Annie Mary Baptist Church Cemetery.
