OBITUARY

Carolyn June Kerr Clodfelter, aged 87, of St. Marys, Georgia, and formerly of Social Circle, Georgia, passed away on Monday, January 12, 2026. She was born in Alabama City, now known as Gadsden, Alabama, on July 18, 1938, to the late Bernice Mildred Davidson and the late Dearil O. Kerr.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, Jacob Fred Coldfelter, and her parents.

Carolyn graduated from Emma Samson High School, and went on to earn her degree, a Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education, from Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, Alabama. Carolyn married Jacob Fred Clodfelter on July 1, 1962, and they moved to Social Circle. She became a pillar of the community, working at Newton County Schools and Libraries, Social Circle City Schools and Libraries, and George Walton Academy. Carolyn’s love of reading, books, puzzles, and computers lead to her serving on the Social Circle City Library Board. Carolyn’s love for her community shined even brighter with her dedication to Social Circle First Baptist Church. There, she was able to show love and service to all of her community, working as a nursery attendant, Sunday School teacher, WMU member, and many different Prayer groups. In 2023, Carolyn moved to St. Marys, Georgia, where she enjoyed being close to her daughter and grandchildren. She became active and made many new friends within the St. Marys Senior Activity Center.

Carolyn leaves behind her daughter and son-in-law, Rachel Clodfelter Alley and Alex K. Alley III; grandchildren, Maggie Alley and Alex K. Alley IV; nephews, Wayne Snow and Danny Snow; nieces, Donna Snow Coley, Amy Kerr Buckelew, and Darlene Kerr Stephens; aunt, Marguerite Addison.

A visitation will be held on Friday, January 16, 2026, from 10:00am to 11:00am, in the William Tribble Memorial Chapel of The Social Circle First Baptist Church. A funeral service will take place on the same Friday, at 11:00am, also in the William Tribble Memorial Chapel, with Pastor Jeff Clegg officiating. Interment will follow immediately after the service, at Social Circle City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, Carolyn’s family asks that donations be made to The Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org).
