OBITUARY

Bobby Jennings Garrett passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 16, 2026. He was born on August 4, 1935, to Ola Jo Mitchell Garrett and Willie Reese Garrett, Sr.

He grew up in Walton County, Georgia, and graduated from Monroe Area High School and Southern Business College. He was a successful businessman and the owner of Morgan and Garrett Motors for over 40 years. He also served as a medic in the National Guard. 

Mr. Garrett was dedicated to his community, serving on the Monroe City Council, where he advocated for city worker benefits. He was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church of Monroe, where he served on various committees, and was also a member of Gideons International, helping place Bibles throughout the community. 

Above all, Mr. Garrett was a devoted and loving family man. He cherished annual trips to Daytona Beach and enjoyed occasional getaways to the mountains. 

He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Jewell Conner Garrett, and his daughters, Christina and Darlene, who adored him and will forever hold him in their hearts. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Jean C. Lindsey of Conyers, Georgia and Roxie Garrett of Social Circle, Georgia and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his three brothers, Bill, Donald, and Nelson. 

A graveside service will be held on March 20, 2026 at 3:00 pm  at Rest Haven Cemetery in Monroe, Georgia.  Meadows Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Gideons International, P.O. Box 140800, Nashville, TN 37214-0800, F.I.S.H. in Monroe or any charity of your choice.
