OBITUARY

Doris Jean Moody Raines Cofield, age 88, of Good Hope, passed away on Monday, March 23, 2026. She was born in Cobb County on November 29, 1937, to the late Virginia Ruth Dodgen and the late Gordon Eugene Moody.

Preceding Doris in death are her beloved husbands, Alvin Raines, the father of her children, and Dan Cofield; her sons, Greg Raines and Geoff Raines; granddaughter, Jamie Henry; great-grandchild, Treyce Winter; brothers, Raymond Moody and Clyde Moody; and sister, Margaret Still.

Doris is survived by her daughters, Roxanne Nix-Malloy (Jim) and Angela Winter Rose; grandchildren, Matt Winter, Corey Winter (Tracey), Shannon (Winter) Stiles, Jame’ Nix, Wendy Tarpley (Dave Musselman), and Cindy Nix (Ryan Rowley); great-grandchildren, Daisy Winter, Ada Winter, Austin Winter, Ethan Winter, Blake Winter, Lawson Winter, Clarke Winter, Lilliana Stiles, Katura Nix, Payten Nix, Michael Nix, Justice Thompson, Jordan Still, Anthony Fagant, Alyssa Tarpley, and Callen Sayers; five great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Robert Moody and Sam Moody (Susanna); sister, Beverly Robinson (Don); and several beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Doris will be remembered for her loving heart, strong faith, and lifelong devotion to her family and church. She worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant, caring for others with compassion and dignity. Music was a true gift in her life—she loved to sing and could play both the piano and organ by ear, faithfully serving in her church for many years. An avid and faithful churchgoer, Doris found great joy in worship and fellowship. She deeply loved her siblings and cherished the lifelong bonds they shared. Above all, her greatest joy was her family, and she leaves behind a legacy of kindness, faith, and love that will be treasured for generations.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Friday, March 27, 2026, at Meadows Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. in the chapel of Meadows Funeral Home, with Brother Danny Bryan officiating. Interment will take place at Westlawn Memorial Cemetery.

The family finds comfort in the words of Scripture and in Doris’s favorite song, “I Found My Lily in the Valley.”

“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” – 2 Timothy 1:7 (KJV)
