|Jimmy Lee Baker, 82, of Covington, GA passed away on Sunday, September 12, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family. |
Jimmy was born in Calhoun, GA on July 9, 1939 to the late Dorothy Lee Thacker Baker and the late Dennis Walter Baker. He was preceded in death by his brother, Raymond Larry Baker. He was a 1958 graduate of Social Circle High School. He was the owner of Baker and Son Construction for many years. His name and workmanship were well-known throughout the community. His work ethic and integrity opened many job opportunities throughout his career and he never needed a business card.
Jimmy didn't truly ever retire from working. He was always willing to use the gifts that God gave him to help those around him; whether it was building a church locally, or in another state or Mexico. He was always willing to help anyone with different projects on their homes. He was selfless with his time and talents and did not expect anything in return.
Anyone that knew Jimmy, knew that he loved the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ with his whole heart. He was a faithful member to Hilltop Holiness Church. He loved getting his family together for reunions. He met regularly with his siblings to eat at Cracker Barrel or in one of their homes. We will hold dear each memory of Jimmy in our hearts.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Shirley Baker of Covington; daughters and son-in-law: Arlene and Lynn Head of Covington, Rhonda Allgood of Covington; sons and daughters-in-law: Walter and Marie Baker of Jersey, Jeff and Patty Baker of Covington, Wade and Tammy Baker of Covington; sisters and brothers-in-law: Dimple Crawford and the late Rayburn Crawford, Joyce and OL Burnett of Oxford, Jean and Billy Hudson of Loganville, Brenda and Gary Armistead of Loganville; brothers and sisters-in-law: Ted and Linda Baker of Eatonton, Nevin and Mary Alice Baker of Social Circle, Gary and Miriam Baker of Eatonton; and 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 15, 2021, from 6:00pm to 8:00 pm at Meadows Funeral Home in Monroe, GA. The funeral service will be September 16, 2021, at 11:00am at the Hilltop Holiness Church. He will lay in state an hour prior to the service. Rev. Vic Ruis and Rev. Lynn Head will be officiating.
