OBITUARY
Charles William Whited Jr. age 87, passed away on October 18, 2024. He was born on August 10, 1937 in Nashville, Tennessee to the late Emma Mae Ash Whited Estes and the late Charles William Whited Sr. He was preceded in death by his great grandson: the late Wesley Kasen Barnes; brothers: the late James Ray Whited, the late Marvin Edward Whited, the late Carl Whited, and the late Ronald Dale Whited.
Charles Whited's journey is truly inspiring. He served in the Air Force National Guard and the US Army 3rd Infantry before settling in Phenix City,Alabama where he met his wife Betty and married her in 1956. Charles and Betty have been married for 68 years. In the 1970's, they moved to Atlanta and started his first business as a drywall contractor. Over the years, he expanded his ventures as a home builder in the Gwinnett County area. Later in his career, he owned a flooring distributor in Lawrenceville. He was a member of Killian Hill Baptist Church for years where he served as a deacon. He also headed the Building Committee and School Board and left a lasting impact on those he encountered. Charles was passionate about his faith and dedicated to sharing it with others. His family was very important to him. He loved them with all of his heart and was the Lighthouse to all.
Surviving are wife: Betty Whited; daughters: Kim Purvis (David); Karla Barnes (Fred) son: Charles Williams Whited lll "Kris" (Bobbie); He was known as "Poppy" to his grandchildren and great grandchildren: Joseph Purvis (Jonaka), Kimberly Abbott (Paul),Latimer Barnes (Stephanie), Lauren Nicol (Chris), Kallie Fleming (Donie), Jordan Barnes (Lauren), Charles William Whited IV (Brice) (Fiancée: Maura Grace), Riley Whited; great grandchildren: Brayden Purvis, Kaden Barnes, McKinley Barnes, Cecily Purvis, Rosslyn Abbott, Lilly Abbott, Grayer Barnes, Colton Abbott, Riggs Barnes, Mereck Nicol, Alaina Purvis.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 from 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm at Meadows Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 pm in Chapel of Meadows Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Good Hope Christian Church Cemetery.
