In Loving Memory of Duncan Leslie James Cumming

October 14, 1947 – August 23, 2025

Duncan Leslie James Cumming, age 77, of Madison, Georgia, peacefully passed away on August 23, 2025. Born in Cornwell, Ontario, to Neil and Edith Alguire Cumming, he carried the warmth of his Canadian upbringing and the values instilled by his loving parents throughout his life.

Entrepreneurial Spirit

Fifty years ago, Duncan founded Cumming Brothers Hydraulics from a small shop transforming it into a respected regional business. He approached every challenge with ingenuity and dedication, priding himself on honest service and long-lasting relationships with customers who became like family.

Family and Personal Life

Duncan shared 56 joyful years of marriage with his wife and soulmate, Jane Tarpley Cumming. He was a devoted father to David Cumming (Michelle) and held tender memories of his son Adam, who preceded him in death. His grandchildren—Joseph Cumming and Lauren Cumming Hay (Sam)—brought him boundless pride, and his sister, Ann Zimmerman (Fred), along with brothers Donald Cumming (Susan) and Jim Cumming.

Celebration of Life

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at Meadows Funeral Home from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. A memorial service will follow in the Chapel at 2:00 pm, with Charlie Henderson officiating. All who knew Duncan are welcome to join in honoring his legacy.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to your church or favorite charity in Duncan’s name, reflecting his lifelong spirit of service and generosity.
