Doris Jean Fritts Matthews, age 73, of Monroe, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2026. She was born in Lake City, Tennessee, on July 21, 1952 to the late Geneva Soward Fritts and the late Vance Fritts.  

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Vernon Wesley Matthews, Jr., her parents, and 8 siblings.

She leaves behind her sons, Jamie Matthews (Valorie) and Rusty Matthews (Angelia Barnes), and her grandson, Nicklas Matthews.  

A visitation will be held from 11:00am to 1:00pm, on Thursday, April 23, 2026, at Meadows Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 1:00pm, in the Chapel of Meadows Funeral Home. Interment will take place at Hill Haven Memory Gardens.
