OBITUARY

In Loving Memory of Edith Hazel Stevens Fuller

September 2, 1944 – June 17, 2026

Edith Hazel Stevens Fuller, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, entered the presence of her Lord and Savior on June 17, 2026, at the age of 81.

Born on September 2, 1944, at Stately Oaks in Jonesboro, Georgia. Edith was the fourth child of six born to the late Roscoe L. and Hazel K. Stevens. God blessed this child from the start, everything she did, she excelled and kept her sight on God.

She was an alumni of Jonesboro High School where she was part of numerous clubs, Chorus, and the Marching Band. Through her high school years she would become the First Chair Clarinet, Head Majorette, and the Drum Major, leading the band her senior year.

Following high school, she went on to hold various positions in the federal government and received awards from including some of the agencies that train our astronauts, the FBI, and NCIS, agents. She headed up the women’s loan division of the Small Business Administration and later led a team at the GBI. Everywhere Edith went, she left her mark of organization, leadership, and training.

Throughout her life, she exemplified unwavering faith, steadfast love, quiet strength, and a servant’s heart. She was a godly woman whose life reflected the grace and goodness of Christ, touching countless lives through her kindness, compassion, wisdom, and prayers.

While Edith excelled at everything she touched, her greatest joy was her family. She devoted herself wholeheartedly to those she loved, creating a home filled with warmth, encouragement, and unconditional love. Her gentle spirit, thoughtful words, and enduring faith became a source of strength for generations of family members and friends. Whether offering a listening ear, a heartfelt prayer, or a word of encouragement, Edith had a unique gift for making others feel loved and valued.

Her faith in God was the foundation of her life. Through every season, she trusted the Lord faithfully and lived as an example of Christian character and devotion. Her life leaves behind a legacy of faith, perseverance, and love that will continue to inspire all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roscoe Leon Stevens, and Hazel Kirkland Stevens; her siblings, Jenette Banks, Bill Stevens, and Donnie Stevens; her stepdaughter, Lynne Freeman; and her beloved grandchildren, Christopher Sandberg and Bailey Beam.

Left to cherish her memory are her devoted husband, Lester Fuller, Jr.; her daughter, Georgianne Summer; her son, Preston Beam; her stepchildren, Pam Freeman, Sandy Carr, and Leighann Rogers; her sister, Cindy Hughey; her brother, Dee Stevens; her grandchildren, Joshua Sandberg, Nicholas Sandberg, Ray Beam, and Hazel Beam; her step-grandchildren, Josh Freeman, Jordan Freeman, Aleaha Whitus, Noah Carr, Riley Freeman, Kelsie Davis, and Kyndell Ash; as well as twelve precious great-grandchildren and many extended family members and dear friends.

Though her family grieves her absence, they rejoice in the assurance that Edith is now at peace in the presence of the Lord she loved so dearly. Her legacy will live on through the lives she touched, the faith she modeled, and the love she so generously shared.

“Well done, thou good and faithful servant… enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.” — Matthew 25:23 (KJV)
