OBITUARY

Peggy Curles Chitty, age 95, of Monroe passed away on July 27, 2026 while in the care of her family. Peggy was born on December 31, 1930 to the late Joseph Curtis Sheppard and the late Evelyn Louise (Peacock) Sheppard. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Thomas Aaron Curles and Col. Charles D. Chitty, Jr. 

Surviving members of her family are her sons, Tom Curles (The late Beth), David Curles (Christina); daughters, Evelyn Warren (Michael), Ladye Grace (Ed), Cristy Holloman (Clark); sister, Susan Smith; brother, Johnny Sheppard (Lyn); grandchildren, Betsy Johnson, Stephanie Leeman, Seth Curles, Rachel Murphy, Rebekah McLain, Kevin Dye, Todd Dye, Scott Dye, Tiffany Sullens, Brittney Filter, Trey Dawkins, Mannah Hills, Zakk Smith; and 21 great grandchildren.

A celebration of Peggy's life will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Meadows Funeral Home with Ed Grace officiating. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm on the same day. A graveside service will take place at Crown Hill Cemetery in Albany, Georgia at a later date.
