OBITUARY

Thomas Lurelle Goodson, age 87, passed away on July 31, 2026 at Graceful Manor in Monroe, GA. He was born in Barwick, GA on June 23, 1939, to the late Jeff and Cornelia Goodson. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Angeline Goodson, and his brother, Lawrence Goodson.

He is survived by his daughters, Deb Guy (and husband Tim) and Holly Goodson, and his son, Bo Goodson (and wife Kim). He also leaves behind several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He graduated from Barwick High School in Barwick, GA, and Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton, GA. He entered the United States Air Force in 1961, serving as an aircraft mechanic in Japan, Okinawa, and the Philippines during the Vietnam War, as well as at several U.S. bases, before he and his family settled in Albany, GA. There, he was employed by Merck Chemical and retired as a mechanical supervisor.

An avid hot rod enthusiast and skilled carpenter, he especially loved making birdhouses as gifts for family and friends in his retirement years. He could fix just about anything, and never hesitated to lend a hand when someone needed one.

A graveside service will be held at Corinth Memorial Gardens in Loganville, GA, on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Reverend Ray Parker.
