OBITUARY
Karen Leigh Casper, born in Monroe, Georgia on July 12, 1962, departed this life on Sunday, September 13, 2026. She was the daughter of the late Ottis R. Casper and the late Nancy Treadwell Casper. Karen grew up in Walton County and attended Walton County Public Schools. She graduated from MACHS in 1980. Karen went on to complete her Associate Arts degree from DeKalb Community College graduating with high honors. She, then graduated Cum Laude from the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia while obtaining her bachelor’s degree in business administration majoring in Marketing.
Karen went to work in the wireless communications industry in 1987, retiring from AT&T in 2016. From 1997 to 2016, Karen worked and lived in Cedartown, Georgia becoming a part of the community and forming lifelong friendships with co-workers, neighbors, and church family. When she retired, she moved back to Walton County to be closer to family and to come back “home”.
Karen was a member of the Matthew Talbot Chapter NSDAR (National Society Daughters of the American Revolution) where she served as Historian, Vice Regent, and Regent. Working in the DAR allowed her the opportunity to divulge in her love of history and to serve her community.
Karen was an avid traveler. She saw much of the United States and visited a dozen different countries.
Karen volunteered at Project Chimps in Morganton, Georgia serving 100+ chimpanzees formerly used in medical research, now retired and living their best life. This was one of her many joys in life.
Karen was predeceased by her parents, Ottis R. Casper and Nancy Treadwell Casper as well as her younger brother Richard Dexter Casper. She is survived by aunts; Rosie Seabolt, Barbara Cooper, Becky Baker, and Carol Huff; her uncle, Charlie Treadwell; and many, many cousins.
Karen’s graveside service will be held on Friday, September 18, 2026 at 10:00 am at Campton Church Cemetery in the community of Campton, Georgia (Walton County). In lieu of flowers, please donate to St. Jude’s Children Hospital at www.stjude.org or Project Chimps Animal Sanctuary at projectchimps.org.
