OBITUARY

Barney Satterfield passed away on Monday, September 28, 2026 after a lengthy battle with kidney disease.

Barney was born January 28, 1958 in Atlanta, Georgia and made Georgia his lifelong home. He was born with cerebral palsy but that is not what defined him.

Barney Satterfield was a man who loved life through a hard lense. He claimed his joys because he had to. Joys that you and I have on autopilot, he had to order up through sheer gumption. He got discounted and said “You don’t think so? Watch me.” Then proved it.

He made friends with ease and smiled. He loved cars and could tell you details about just about every make and model ever made. He decided he should paint some watercolors, so, of course he did.

He was blessed with friends his whole life that just enjoyed his wicked, witty sense of humor. He could tease with the toughest and would delight that he got one over on you. He most likely never realized what an inspiration he was to others. He just did his thing and rolled, literally, with it.

He loved his devoted dog / companion, Ralph, our Nanny, Mary Catherine (Turner) Satterfield and our mother, Jayne (Peacock) Satterfield who were his built-in advocates who never thought twice about personal sacrifice.

We’ll remember a boy smiling who watched from the sidelines a lot of the time who became a man who decided to participate and not be denied engagement.

Barney is survived by his siblings, Reneé Allen, Mitchell Satterfield and Lesli Satterfield along with his beloved nieces and nephews, Andy Durden, Katie Patterson, Jesi Devenport and Ryan Palmer. Also, his beloved aunt, Connie (Peacock) Smith and several cousins and great nieces and nephews.

A service in his honor will be held at Meadows Funeral Home in Monroe, GA on Sunday, October 4, 2026 at 3pm. Meadows Funeral Home, Inc. is in charge of arrangements.

Saluté, Brother and rest until we meet again.
