One of the finest men I have ever met. He had a positive impact on all who knew him. A very talented and knowledgeable fellow who knew a lot about life. When I learned of his passing, I thought about the show at the Social Circle Theater last month. It was a great event and a blessing to all who attended. Prayers for all the families involved.

David I will miss you very much. We always had a good laugh when together. Some of the best times we had together was growing up playing this. Together and spending the night. We really had a good. Time when you came to spend the day at Pa malcoms my uncle tommy lee and aunt Frances. We played so hard and aunt Frances would cook all of us Home coming meal. We were second cousins but like brothers. I remember my daddy and your daddy grew up together as first cousins and they both would tell their fun stories. They did. And me and you did the same thing. I will never forget that or you. I think you are now in Heaven. Talking to your Daddy and my daddy. And all of your family. You will be greatly missed. LOVE YOU COUSIN. GERRY MALCOM

David, "Julio the Midnight Chef", what an amazing impact and reach you had! You touched so many lives. You made so many mornings fun and crazy for everyone. Knowing your voice was there in the morning brought joy and comfort to thousands upon thousands of folks every single morning. You were a real-life, down to earth local celebrity and town character. I feel like you were a best friend, though I knew you mostly from the radio. I pray for all your family and I grieve with your throng of friends the world over who loved your work and so appreciated your delightful outlook on life and the hard work that you valued. I know that you loved the Lord and the Jesus was your Savior and you were unashamed to speak his name even on secular radio. You will be missed, your shoes will never be filled. You were a unique brother. We will miss you, we will remember those wonderful times that you embraced and often created for those of us who loved Morning Madness. I know the crew will go on and forward with your spirit and love. God Bless you Malcom Family, may His peace sustain you during this time of grief. He is near to the brokenhearted.

Our sincere condolences to David's family, especially his mother, Sherrill; no one expects a child to "go home" before a parent.
We have known David, "Julio," only a few years, having met him on one of his remote broadcasts from Patrick's in Covington. But, whenever we ran into him he knew us by name, evening remembering where we lived. We "dined" with him and his mother on Varsity Fare when he, Becky Pentacost, Danny Huff, and Steve Aldridge entertained our Sunday School class at First Baptist, Covington. Despite his diabetes, he could enjoy a chili dog with the rest of us.
Now that he has gone to be with the Lord, we will miss him like family. We looked forward every morning to listening to Julio, Joel Dee and their sidekicks on "Morning Madness," as we ate breakfast. It was an uplifting and fun way to begin one's day. His memory was phenomenal, especially about sports. We agreed with him on religion, politics, the Braves, and nearly every other topic we could name. He was a GREAT man, irreplaceable, and we're sure he "did something good" every day. He will be missed by thousands.

Julio, David, will be sorely missed by our greater community at large. He was a great humanitarian and a friend to all he met. The first time we met it was if I'd known him my entire life. His support through WMOQ 92.3 of our Charity Golf Tournament, the Ty Reed Golf Legacy Tournament, had a tremendous influence on our success each year as we raised money for scholarships in memory of Ty Reed. We'll miss his voice each morning as we tune in to 92.3 but I feel certain that heaven just gained another great "Soldier of The Cross". We love you Julio.

Had the pleasure of knowing and working with Julio there at the station in the 2000’s. He was always the same, just a great stand up guy who was fun to be around. Prayers for all of his family and the host of so many of his listening friends and and co-workers there at WMOQ, who enjoyed the pleasure of his talents on the airwaves. I wrote a song loosely based on the facts about him a few years back that is on YT and titled, “Julio The Midnight Chef” that a friend of mine in Alabama did. When I told him about it he seemed to be humbled by it instead of letting it go to his head. Go rest high on that mountain, friend.

In my thirty+ years of helping with broadcasts of high school football games, I was very fortunate to have met and worked with many talented and wonderfully gifted people on the radio. But no one in those years was as friendly, accommodating and truly a joy to work with as David "Julio" Malcom. He touched so many lives positively, not only of people in the Walton County area, but anywhere the radio signal of WMOQ can be heard. And it seemed that he often "accompanied" us to work on many a morning as a neighbor and a friend. We will all miss him in many different ways, and will hold a special place for him - and for the many days he made our days just a little brighter, with his God-given country sense of humor - and for putting those many smiles on many faces, we will be forever grateful. And he will be missed by many - in many different ways - and certainly by this writer. God-speed on your journey, Julio.

Julio, I will miss hearing you on morning madness, the Old Time Country Jukebox, and hearing you at any time on a commercial. I enjoyed spending time with you and Les at the remotes and on the Bojangles Tail Gate Show. One of the best times of my life was the 18 years I worked for you on the WMOQ 92.3 football broadcast. We had some fun times. You were one of the friendliest, cheerful persons I ever knew. You were always a joy to be around. I look forward to seeing you again in Heaven

Julio was an ambassador for things good in the world. I will miss him on my morning drives into work and will miss the smile he put on my face as I listened to him and Joel D. You represented a rare breed of radio personalities that is truly fading away with your down to earth and relatable conversations about the good ole days. I feel a huge loss inside and will miss your presence in my life. I will carry on your message of shaking your hand and remembering the power of prayer.

I recently moved to the area in Loganville. I found the radio station and listened every morning from 6:45 to 7:30. I made a point to meet David and some of the others at a car show in Loganville this year, 2024. He was kind and funny. He laughed at me because I use the stations commentary about the Braves to have a conversation with my boyfriend, who loves the Braves, I could speak sports with him at night after listening to the radio going to work and going home very day. I miss him already and what a kind, hard working, Christian man. Loved how he loved the lord and told everyone. He and the others at the station are always out and about on the weekends, just great people there at WMOQ, all of them. Funny, kind, and good man he is and will be missed. Prayer for his family and all who are in morning for the loss of David Malcome aka Julio the Midnight Chef.

I only started listening to the radio station by chance trying to find something to listen to at night and early in the morning. I loved you the way he would sign off every day with his favorite saying. And the song that was played afterwards.
There were no better words said each day to make a person feel good. Rest in God's company friend and you will be missed by the multitudes.

Sally I'm so sorry for your loss. David will be missed very, very much. I only saw him one time since we were in school, but he was still the same ole David. He always had a smile on his face and a kind one( most of the time) for everyone. Just keep in mind all the wonderful memories you have, and know he's with our Lord and Saviour now wrapped in his arms, waiting for all his family to join him. What a beautiful sight that will be. I had the honor to get to know "Julio" from our local radio station, living in Good Hope I would listen to him every morning and he helped me out many times with Public Safety announcements when ever I asked him. He was a great asset to our community and was a really caring person. My wife would always make him and the other guys plates of cookies and other treats that we would take to the station along with biscuits from the General Store. I will sure miss him, I know he really loved his mother, children and especially his grand kids he talked about them all non stop, I will miss him greatly. The farmers market in Monroe wont be the same. Sincerely Todd & Robin
