T McFerrin had the qualities that every student would want in a teacher, every athlete would want in a coach, and every school administrator would in a staff member.
I had opportunity to work with Coach McFerrin on two occasions. The first when I served as the Principal of Elbert County High School, the second when I served as the Superintendent of the Jefferson City School System.
T and I became the best of friends, and I miss him greatly.
— John Jackson
Coach T was the best high school football coach in Georgia. He did it the right way in everything he did.
His impact is far reaching in Georgia. If you were a friend, coached or played for Coach T, you were fortunate and a better person because of your relationship with him.
My thoughts and prayers are with Jane, Rob and Tom. Our loss is heaven’s gain. I will miss Coach McFerrin dearly and look forward to our big heavenly homecoming.

Coach McFerrin was a man of small stature but a man of great integrity, honesty, and strength in a way everyone noticed. He was one of my best friends and l agree with his son Tom that he treated all the same. A great Christian and a man l would trust with my family. I will miss you Coach, and hope to see you on the other side.

I would like to offer condolences, thoughts, and prayers to the McFerrin family. I had the ultimate honor of playing for Coach T at Elbert Co HS in the early 1990's. After becoming a high school teacher and football coach, I often use the lessons I learned as a player under Coach T, and the lessons learned from attending clinics / seminars where he was a presenter. Coach T was a great coach, and in my opinion, the greatest in Georgia history. However, he was a greater man, Christian role model, husband, and father. Well done good and faithful servant!
— Kenneth R. Sanders
Coach T had a heart of gold and after working with his son Rob, the apple didn't fall far from the tree. His memory will hold a dear place in my heart!! They said it best on his obituary "Well done thy good and faithful servant "!! See you one day Coach T!!
— Lisa Wilson
I had the honor of being Coach T's hospice social worker for the last year of his life. The twinkle in his eye and his wonderful heart shone through until the very end. I cherish the memories I have of the time I spent sitting and talking to Coach, or just holding his hand when talking was no longer an option. I will truly miss this dear man, and send my condolences to Jane and his whole family.
— Cathy Chapman
I will always cherish my time coaching for Coach T. He had this unique ability to get the most of his players and coaches. Regardless of how big or small your role was in the football program.. he made you feel important and special. He was always known for his exceptional organizational skills and competitive spirit in all of his stops along the way. There will never be another like him.

Sorry for the family’s loss. Didn’t know this man but his son is my neighbor and I know what a kind and hardworking individual he is. Sounds like he was a great individual everyone would’ve been better to have known.
— Patricia Griffith
My thoughts have been with your family since learning of Coach's passing. Not many teachers made an impact on my life that is still felt today, but he did. I knew him as my History teacher and his way of bringing it to life and not just reading about it made me see things in a new way. I have never lost my love of History and credit him for that. He also gave our school something to cheer for and about as he led our football team. It's been over 50 years since those days but they are treasured times of my life and I'm so thankful to have known such a great man. It was always a thrill when he attended our reunions and everyone crowded around just to see and talk to him. Heaven gained a good one when T McFerrin arrived.

I was a manager for Coach McFerrin for 3 years and he helped me get started at College the next year as a student trainer and manager, he even got me to come back on Friday nights in the fall to help tape up the team. This was up in East Tennessee at Sullivan Central a place where Coach T McFerrin is still held in highest regard by all those who had contact with him
— David Wayne Hagen
May your memory be a blessing for the future…
— George Glinsky
I had the privilege of playing for Coach at Sullivan Central, the undefeated team of 1975, I still have and apply the life lessons learned from him to this day, I regret not being able to talk with him to let him know that, and have tried to take those lessons to young people that I have coached over the years, this fall marks 50 years since we all began that season, I remember 2 a days, running banks behind the school, he was years ahead of what coaching was then, and I think he set the standard for all coaches.
