So very sorry to hear of Sheriff Palmer's passing. When I first entered law enforcement, Lamar was one of the first officers of another County that I met. Sheriff Thornton was Walton County Sheriff at that time and we all worked closely together through the years, I learned much from watching these men of experience and always knew that I could pull from their knowledge and experience. I enjoyed my friendship with Lamar since our retirement and it was always good to see him out and about, usually at a restaurant. Always a smiling face and an open hand. My sincere sympathy to the Palmer family.
— Stan Evans, Jackson County Sheriff (Retired)
