Rest easy, Uncle Ray

Dean Smith

You will be truly missed. Uncle Ray was one of a kind!

Elaine Rogers

The picture of Uncle Ray in a hunting field with his dog brings back my most precious memories of our time together hunting almost every weekend when I was growing up as a young teenager in New Albany. He taught me how to hunt quail over his dogs oftentimes in Fredericksburg, IN. We had such great times together hunting. I was totally elated when he asked me to go with him to hunt pheasants in Nebraska even though the plane's engine died a couple of times on the way out that my pilot Uncle attributed to some sort of "icing". The dog salivating in my lap and I looked at each other thinking this was the end until Uncle Ray got the engine restarted and laughed the whole thing off. I'm still not certain how far we fell with no running engine, but it seemed like forever at the time. I had total respect for Uncle Ray's honest and direct response to everything he encountered - he never mixed words, a trait I admire to this day. Thank you Uncle Ray for the bright spots you put in my early life and for teaching me the importance of honesty I carry with me today as an adult - I am forever grateful!!!

Love,
David Wolfe

P.S.: I'm sure the hunting is probably better in Heaven!!!

What a life!
Thank you uncle Ray for sharing your sunshine and rambunctious spirit. Life was never dull in your company. Whether it was slamming a card in exclamation, or stirring up fun and bringing on laughter, your life has been a gift. A witness to imagination, perseverance and passion.

God welcome you home,
Mary Ann

He will be truly missed. He had a zest for life in activities and helping others. I will miss our conversations about everything from the stock market to the antics he and Jude did as children. He lived a good and full life.

We were blessed to have known Ray. He was always so kind, friendly, a great neighbor, and always had a laugh. We will miss him and joy he brought to our neighborhood.
